MIranda Homes is building sustainably. Miranda uses the equivalent of 4 crushed steel cars to frame the home vs. an acre of trees. They use cementicious siding and trim, leaving only the exterior sheathing and interior subflooring to be completed with plywood. They are building homes that allow almost no unwanted or unhealthy air into the home and instead mechanically ventilate the home with filtered air. If you're going to build or buy a new home, I challenge someone to find a more energy efficient home in the $300 - $350K price range.
