Pistils is an urban nursery offering rare and unusual plants along with the tried and true classics. Pistils is devoted to bringing a bit of the country life into the city that is often forgotten by the city dweller with the hope of inspiring a renewed connection to our environment . We avidly promote urban chicken and bee keeping and worm composting. In 2009, we look forward to adding raising dairy goats to the repertoire and maybe sell a few kids at the nursery. Inside our store one will find an array of well kept house plants, pottery, tools, bulk soil amendments, books, natural history ephemera, terraria, and local art work. Pistils also offers comprehensive landscape design/build services. From softscaping to hardscaping we embrace that which is sustainable. We emphasize food farming, plant installations that attract wildlife and are low maintenance, rain gardens and feng shui principles.
