Full-time DescriptionPOSITION TERM:
April 26, 2010 – December 31, 2010; Possible extension to June 30, 2011
HOURS:
30 hours/week, mostly weekdays between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM
The Electronic Communication Specialist will provide a variety of electronic communication services to NWNW and our member neighborhoods including website development, maintenance, and trainings utilizing a variety of platforms (i.e. Wordpress, Joomla, Moonfruit and a content management system developed by Oakstand, a local web development company). The Electronic Communication Specialist will also maintain the Neighbors West-Northwest website and coordinate additional electronic communication efforts including publishing a monthly electronic newsletter, maintaining an online calendar, and increasing our social networking activity. A background in database management, information management and/or other technology related skills is a plus. Electronic tools give our all-volunteer neighborhoods a low-cost and timely way to communicate with their membership.
ExperienceGENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Train Volunteers to build their skill levels in using and maintaining neighborhood websites (i.e. Joomla, Wordpress, Moonfruit, Oakstand)
Update, maintain and develop the Neighbors West-Northwest website.
Train NWNW staff to maintain the NWNW website to keep the content current and interesting
Send electronic announcements to neighborhoods as requested
Work with staff to publish a monthly e-newsletter using Constant Contact.
Update events on existing calendars using Calendarwiz
Maintain a NWNW presence on a variety of social networking tools.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills RequiredStrong communication and technology skills.
Familiar with multiple web development programs and content management systems.
Previous experience and success training others on technical topics.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Overall competence with MS Office applications: Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Availability to work some evenings and weekends. (Training related.)
Ability to juggle multiple priorities.
Familiarity with neighborhood system.
Applicants should be flexible and willing to work in a dynamic office environment where projects change weekly depending on the needs of our neighborhood volunteers.
