Claylin, Earthen Floors in a Bag, Now Available

Claylin floors are do-it-yourself earthen floors in a bag. Earthen floors are made of local clay soils, fibers and sands, these floors have been installed in homes for more than a millennium. Today Claylin, LLC has developed a mix and bagged it for easy use. A how-to manual, hands on workshops and a growing list of certified installers are also available.

The clay soil, from Portland Metro, and sand mix, from the Columbia River, come in one bag, and the fine straw, from McMinville, comes in a second bag. The bags are reusable and recyclable. Natural oils and waxes to finish the floor come from a manufacturing company in Utah. The finished floor is hard and waterproof; giving like wood, massive like concrete, beautiful and unique like earth.
