Revenge of the Electric Car Movie Review 11/05/2011
Portland welcomed the premier of Revenge of the Electric Car and its director, Chris Paine to Hollywood Theatre. The documentary highlights four different paths of the electric car entering the market. Viewers follow Mr. Detroit, legendary GM executive Bob Lutz. The Warrior, Carlos Ghosen, CEO & President of Nissan. Rocket Man, Elon Musk, CEO of Telsa Motors. And, The Outsider, Greg "Gadget" Abbott, an entrepreneur in custom electric automotive conversions. It's an inside scoop to see these companies hedge their future on electric automobiles. Viewers are brought in for behind the scene meetings, conversations, and personal tribulations with the executives in charge of the Chevy Volt, Tesla Motors, and Nissan Leaf. From the concept days prior to the economic bust through the tribulations that follow, we see restructuring, going all in, and taking desperate measures to keep business alive in hopes that the electric car becomes mainstream.
Rather than pushing an agenda or taking side streets down a multitude of areas that encompass this emerging market like energy storage and EV infrastructure, Revenge of the Electric Car doesn't waiver on the EV resurgence and leaves viewers entertained, educated, and excited about the future of our automobile industry.
It's worthy of a movie ticket, and it is a must for your Netflix queue.
