Geothermal Power Plant Construction Neal Hot Springs Oregon Okayed 4/25/2011
Oregon has one of the broadest renewable energy economies in America and it's continuing to grow in diversity.
Oregon has large wind and solar projects developed and in the works as well as North American headquarters for companies like Vestas. Oregon State is researching and developing wave energy technology while Oregon Iron Works is manufacturing the buoys. And, now geothermal technology is becoming more developed and a realistic opportunity to power the Northwest.
Neal Hot Springs in Eastern Oregon has received a $96.8 million conditional loan guarantee to construct a geothermal facility. Now that they've received the "key reservoir certificate" condition, they've been given the green light to start construction.
