GREEN FOCUS: Cool Things That Are Green
Introducing Lucy Dwyer4/07/2010I have a lot of hobbies and interests, however, it’s safe to say that many of these diversions fall under two categories: the outdoors and writing. Therefore, joining the team at GreenPosting.org was not a difficult decision for me.
In fact, it seemed to be just what I was looking for at this point in my life.
I’m going on my third year living in Portland and every day I become a little more enchanted with this city. Having the opportunity to explore some of the sustainable activities that make Portland so great and then share them through writing? Let’s just say you don’t have to twist my arm.
My love of the outdoors started at a very young age in the North woods of Minnesota. It was there that I had my first camping trip and where I saw my first Pileated Woodpecker.
I spent last summer working on a guest ranch just outside the East gate of Yellowstone National Park finally achieving one of my lifelong dreams of waking up every morning to a stable full of horses and nothing more to listen to than the sounds of nature.
Since moving here from Seattle to pursue my longtime goal of attending graduate school, I’ve had a number of wonderful experiences in Portland.
When I am not busy being a student, I volunteer my time at the Audubon Society of Portland and I am constantly on the lookout for new hikes, new places to camp, or any other new outdoor adventure.
With graduation in May ‘10, I am ready to continue my exploration of this city at an accelerated pace. As a contributor at GreenPosting.org, I think I’ve found just the way to do that.
