Junk 2 Funk Recycled Fashion Show 2009 with Video 11/18/2009
Junk to Funk Recycled Fashion Show was off the hook! There were about 1,000 people packed into the Crystal Ballroom on Saturday the 14th for a night of fashion, art, funk, sustainability, and education.
Mayor Sam Adams was one of the hosts as they presented 29 different models wearing couture outfits made from plastic, window blinds, coffee filters, bicycle tubes, movie film, bubble wrap, latex gloves, and just about everything else we take for granted and throw away. (video below of all the models taking to the runway. The last person won.)
There was also a band that rocked the house. During intermission Junquestra members all jammed on instruments they made from recycled material. There was an 8 inch electric bass guitar with rubber bands as strings. They had bike wheels being used, garbage cans, and a wide variety of other musical junk that made some funk. (Video below of the band. Mini bass in front)
