GREEN FOCUS: Cool Things That Are Green
$100 Rebate By City For Water Efficient Toilet1/08/2009Remember as a kid waiting in line at the drinking fountain and telling Mikey to “save the whales” because he was drinking so much water and a new game of Butts Up was about to start with 10 minutes left of recess before you have to do long division? The Portland Water Bureau is encouraging the use of less water and “saving whales” by offering a $100 rebate to customers that replace their traditional 1.6 gallons of water per flush toilet with newer, more whale saving WaterSense models.
The rebate for WaterSense labeled toilets, means that they don’t use more than 1.28 gallons per flush while meeting “rigorous criteria for performance.” You may interpret that as you wish.
For the rebate, you must fill out a WaterSense Toilet Rebate Form and return it to the Portland Water Bureau by June 30, 2009
Like the game Butts Up, there are rules.
- You must receive water from the Portland Water Bureau and have an active Portland Water Bureau account that is in good standing.
- You must own the property where the new toilet is being installed or obtain the signature of the property owner on the rebate Form.
- There is a limit of 2 toilet rebates per eligible account.
- Each rebate is worth $100 and rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
