GREEN FOCUS: Cool Things That Are Green
Cool Energy News10/14/2008I noticed in the last couple of days some interesting news stories regarding the energy sector and Oregon. It’s a no duh that green collar jobs in energy are going to be the wave of the future (slight pun intended).
OSU had a couple stories come out regarding renewable energy. One regarding wave energy and the other on hydrogen fuel derived from sewage.
They have successfully tested the newest wave energy device that met their expectations in power and design. Down the road, the article mentions that “wave energy parks” could produce up 10% of Oregon’s energy. If seven parks are developed, it would only take up one third of one percent of Oregon’s 600 square mile coastline.
The other article found that the bacteria that naturally grows on wastewater, AKA sewage, produces hydrogen and carbon dioxide. This would be a cost effective way to make hydrogen to fuel our cars.
These forms of alternative energy are only gaining more steam as the dependency of foreign oil becomes stronger. The government needs to, and believe they will increase their efforts on funding the private sector on further R&D on renewable energy. From this increase of money from the government back into our economy, we’ll see factories reopen that have been closed because American auto makers suck and those employees that lost their jobs will get re-trained and start making money. Money that will be pumped back into our economy.
Where are those firemen from the Sprint commercial running congress on walkie-talkies passing bills with one-word questions and answers?
What do you think?
