GREEN FOCUS: Cool Things That Are Green
Ben & Jerrys New Freezer10/02/2008Ben & Jerry’s continues to make a difference for the health of the planet. They’ve just been awarded permission by the federal government to install and test 2,000 hydrobarbon-based freezers in the coming years. Ben & Jerry’s will test 50 freezers on the east coast in Boston, Virginia, Maryland, and around Washinton, D.C. according to GreenBiz.
They are the first company in America to use GreenFreeze technology even though they are widely used overseas.
The EPA hasn’t approved hydrocarbon-based freezers for use in America because they contain flammable hydrocarbons like butane or propane.
Ben & Jerry’s ice cream has flavors affectionately named Cherry Garcia and Phish Food. Speaking of Phish, the band is reuniting for a weekend in March 2009.
